Dr. Haffty has also been involved with many medical societies and organizations over the course of his career. He recently served as president of the American Board of Radiology, as well as president and Chairman of the Board of the American Society for Radiation Oncology (ASTRO). Dr. Haffty is also the past president of the American Radium Society, past chairman of the Residency Review Committee in Radiation Oncology. He currently serves on the RSNA Board of Directors.

Dr. Haffty has authored and co-authored over 300 medical articles and studies, and is presently an associate editor of theJournal of Clinical Oncology。
